We are currently looking for volunteers to fulfill the following roles for our branch:

Branch Coordinator

Cat Care Officer

Communications and Public Relations Officer

Fosterer

Fundraising Officer

PR - Vet Liaison

Branch Coordinator

Care passionately about cats and their welfare? Become the Co-ordinator of our branch, established for 20 years with year on year increase of the cat welfare activities it undertakes. This role involves the management and co-ordination of welfare and cat care activities for the branch.

From being the liaison point for the National Cat Centre and chairperson of the branch committee, to the formulation and implementation of branch strategies and policies and the overviewing of operational activities and procedures of the branch, this is a wide ranging management and co-ordination role. Ability to assimilate and disseminate information is crucial.

Team leadership, people management, and communication skills are essential. Use of a computer and a car for travel is a requirement.

Please note that this is a committee role and that you are required to attend 4 committee meetings a year.*

 

 

Cat Care Officer

Want to be involved in cat welfare but cannot care for the cats yourself? Why not become the Cat Care Officer who manages and co-ordinates the cat care activities and administration undertaken by the branch.

From ensuring our standards of care for each cat that comes into our care is exceeded to implementing neutering campaigns. This is a management role overviewing the activities of fosterers and revisit officers as well as collating information on all cat care activities undertaken by the branch to inform branch committee.

Team leadership, people management, communication skills and excellent PC skills required. Use of a computer with Word, Excel and Powerpoint and a car for travel are requirements.

This is a committee role requiring you to attend 4 committee meetings a year.*

 

Communications and Public Relations Officer

Wish people knew who to contact regarding cats locally? Help the branch raise its profile by becoming the Communications and PR Officer. Maximisation of external as well as internal communications and PR opportunities are needed to raise the profile of the branch to support its cat care and welfare activities.

This is a new committee role needed to manage and co-ordinate the communications and PR activities of the Branch. Initially a review of the branch's requirements for communications is required resulting in a recommendation for the roles and activities of this element of the branch's work.

This is a committee role requiring you to attend 4 committee meetings a year.*

 

 

Fosterer

Interested in hands-on work with cats - on a daily basis - then fosterering may be for you. Care for the cats that are brought into care by operating fostering facilities from your home.

Provide the homeless cats and kittens with an excellent standard of welfare and care until a new home can be found for them. From providing daily stimulation, arranging veterinary care and administering routine treatments to arranging for potential cat owners to view the cats.

Being a fosterer is a demanding but rewarding role for people who care deeply about cats and their wellbeing.

It is essential in this role that any holidays are planned and cover is arranged for this and any sickness etc.

 

 

Fundraising Officer

Love meeting people and attending fairs/events - Do what you enjoy - whilst helping the branch raise funds for the cats.

The fundraising activities of the branch as essential in helping the branch meet the costs of caring for the cats. From planning and organising events and fundraising ideas to utilising a team of fund-raisers to help at events, this is a role which engenders the whole range of fundraising.

Leadership, communication skills as well as excellent planning and organising skills are essential. Use of a PC and a car is a requirement

This is a committee role requiring you to attend 4 committee meetings a year.*

 

 

PR - Vet Liaison

Help us raise the profile of the cats for re-homing and the work the branch undertakes within the areas we cover.

We have a range of posters and leaflets for vets to display in their waiting areas and also collection boxes; maybe food as well as cash donations; and most importantly, publicity material to display our Cats for Re- homing details and special one off appeals. Initially we would like to focus on the vets that support our work - a total of 10 vets who may require a quick visit on a monthly basis.

Access to a computer including internet and e-mail with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills would be advantageous. Access to a car for travel is essential.

 

PR - Media

Besides re-homing cats, the branch undertakes lots of other cat related activities; for example advice and information for cat owners, providing financial assistance for the neutering of owned cats and operating a lost and found register.

Help us raise awareness with the general public by liaising with the local newspapers and the National Cat Centre on obtaining coverage on regular and specific appeals for cats and other cat related issues (including good news stories). Also identify and secure other media where information can be displayed for the general public to access; for example main libraries. Access to a computer including e-mail and good computer skills required.

 

 

* A committee member is responsible for attending four meetings each year where you will represent and report on your areas of responsibility. Additionally, a committee member is responsible jointly with all other members in directing the strategy and future activities of the branch.
