About us

Epsom, Ewell and District branch covers the postcode areas KT5, KT6, KT9, KT17-23 and RH3-5. We take in cats for rehoming and, if necessary, they are vet checked, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and - funds permitting - microchipped. They are then put up for rehoming. Some cats are homed on a 'direct re-home' basis from their existing homes. This causes less trauma for the cats and means we can find new homes for more cats. All new prospective owners receive a home visit.

We are totally self-funding and rely solely on donations and our fundraising events to keep us afloat. Cats Protection Headquarters provide us with neutering vouchers which are available to the general public to assist with the cost of spaying/neutering. These are available to people on low incomes and, if possible, we may assist from our own funds with the balance. We do not have clinics of our own but use various veterinary surgeons in the area.

Our branch started in 1988. At that time the branch had two people fostering with indoor pens. Today we have three dedicated fosterers - Angela, Rosemary, Yvonne, with 12 outdoor pens between them. Without them we would be lost, and consequently we can accommodate many more cats. However, there is never enough room as we always have a long list of cats waiting to come into our care. Only one of the original members remains on our committee - our treasurer, Renee Long who still keep on the financial straight and narrow..

Annual Membership to our branch is just six pounds per year which helps towards supporting our ongoing work in cat welfare. To keep local members in touch we publish the quarterly newsletter 'Cats' Tales'.

Of course, we are always looking for more help in every aspect of our work. We desperately need more fosterers and if you have a little experience this would be useful, however we are more than willing to encourage a new-comer with advice and support. More fosterers would enable us to bring sanctuary to more cats and reduce our waiting list.
